First Temper Tantrum
Oh my. I didn't know that such a deliberate, furious, earth shattering screech could come out of my little innocent 9 month old angel's mouth.
He was going for the DVD player, which I knew I would never be able to fix if he started pressing all the buttons. So, I immediately said "Off Limits" and tried to gently scootch Niall in another direction.
I really didn't think anything of it. There are so many different things to play with, I figured he'd be easily distracted by a dirty sock or an empty milk carton. Well, this guy has apparently outgrown the distractions phase. He knows what he wants now and you better give it to him.
I was a little at a loss for words (or action) for a minute there, when he first started screaming... but I have to laugh at my ridiculous "first mom syndrome" sometimes. As Niall started flipping out, these are the 3 things I immediately thought of:
Could the terrible twos be starting this early??

- I need to buy a good discipline book before it's too late
- I have to figure out a way to explain to him why he can't play with certain things. He needs to understand... (even though he won't have a clue what I'm talking about)
- I have got to catch this on video!

Just give that kid his dvd player, that's torture!!!!
ReplyDeleteTemper Tantrums make me feel like a mom fail. My oldest has somewhat grown out of it, and his phase was really only about a year long, but my youngest has temper tantrums so bad, we are going to look into seeing a specialist about his aggressivness.
ReplyDelete:P But Niall is pretty darn cute, in admist a temper tantrum!

ReplyDeleteOh man, that's tough. It's pretty hard to know what to do- whether it's just a phase or not. It's probably cute to everyone but us!

Oh my, the tantrums. I remember it seemed as soon as my first turned one it was like a switch flipped. The tantrums ensued, and sadly only morphed in form until we hit the twos and reached a whole other level of fit. At least we all know that we are not alone, everyone's kid does it.

ReplyDeleteIt won't last forever. Having been there, done that with the older ones it does get easier. But yes, it can start this young it's the whole wanting to speak, be independent but not being able to do either really at this age.
